A New Job

As a courtesy to all who enter his contest, Jason gives honest critical feedback to all contestants that request it. I took him up on his offer, and found it to be quite helpful. Little things make a big difference in reader perception.

So thanks Jason. I really appreciate your honesty and your commitment to writing and to the community you've fostered.

In other news, I just gave a month's notice to my current employer. I've just accepted an offer from another company whose software developers, and any other of their employees for that matter, are completely remote. They don't even have an office.

This was the first step in what will likely be our departure from Massachusetts once we are able to sell our home. Roughly translated, we could be here for a while, or we could be out of here in a flash.

I've made some good friends here where I work. I never expected to. Past experiences at the work place have conditioned me to keep to myself, to keep my opinions close to the vest. In short, I was starting to feel I'd gone the way of the dodo, the rotary telephone, the cassette tape, or VHS. It turns out that I may have overreacted.

I'll be posting more about that later. Let's just say there are some difficulties that must be overcome before I leave. But the most important hurdle has been cleared. I have a job.

Where the heck are you going?

My husband went with a new company after being with his old company for like 15 years or something. It was hard, but ended up being the best, most profitable thing he's ever done.

I believe change is always good. So, congratulations and good luck on selling the house!

Wow! You're actually gonna do it...move I mean...its a big thing to uproot your life and start fresh...ask me how I know...:) Good for you! Adventure keeps you young. and of course there has to be a job to pay for this adventure...I would love to work remotely...I may be trying that out really soon...

Congratulations on the offer! That's really cool. I know people who have done the remote work thing and techies really seem to like it (I specify "techies" because some people really need interaction. We usually don't.) Any thoughts about what might be next geographically for you?

Scott,

Sorry for the off-topic nature of the following. My blog's going to be unavailable for a while. I may open a new one altogether. My hobby life stream crossed with the bloglife stream and you know what happens when the streams cross!

Why, I wonder, do we do this public thing if we don't want some people to read them? Why, I also wonder, didn't I learn my lesson with the Friday Night Date debacle (which didn't turn out to be one, thankGodfully).

I hate to give the old girl up--I was enjoying the Google Prominence my blog received!

If the problem doesn't get fixed, I will send you the address to my new blog.

Now I'll mention an on-topic thing for good manners' sake;

Congratulations! I wish you safety for the move and hope everyone will adjust well in the new digs.

You're leaving MA and Schprockie??? I'm glad you found another job as that's such a huge thing, especially in this economy. Oh wait, it's only Michigan that's suffering through a shitty economy. I hope you like the location to where you choose to move.

Good luck, Scott! I am in the middle of doing the same thing. Changing jobs and moving to a new city. I've about had a nervous breakdown. For the first time ever, I've had to take anti-anxiety meds!!!
