Only a Week Left

I only have a week to finish the carnival story. I've changed it quite a bit, and still, contrary to the advice of my friends, I haven't written the ending yet. After my wife's criticisms, I am having trouble leaving it alone until the end. It's not that she didn't like it. She merely echoed what my conscience was telling me. The changes I'm making are shaping the end anyway, and I think it's a lot more interesting now with some meat packed between the slices.

So, I'm taking a break from the blog rounds until I finish this story. I will commit Hari Kari if I don't finish. This is not going to end up like most of my stories, in the wish basket.

Question: do you think I should change my avatar to something more applicable? Like to the picture above? I found this by searching google images.

Scott when I saw the new, pic I thought it was so appropriate for all of us and wondered if I should steal it. I think that's a good sign that chaging avatars would be OK.

Good luck with the story and don't forget to let us know how you do. When are winners announced?

I am completely in favor of the new avatar. It's an excellent choice.

Good luck with the carnival story.

I concur. It's more befitting of your online image.

Love the new avatar.

And we'll miss you - but sometimes you have to take a break from the blogging in order to get things done. (I should know).

It's just like updating any other picture and you have changed in the past year or so I've been reading. So okay, go for it!

I'm easy on the avatar. I've changed mine a few times :)

Good luck with the story. Exciting stuff.

BTW I was thinking about the whole standing up and declaring you're a writer thing and it doesn't sit with me. I know who I am and I do tell people, when it suits me. Just because someone tells me to shout it doesn't change what I am--and I am not meek :D

And what about the ultimate comic book heroes? Did they declare who they really are? Did their alter ego suffer for their little deceptions? I get irritated by people telling me how to be me.

You can shoot me now :)

New blog layout might as well change your avatar. I like it.

The man in the pic looks like me trying to write. Ha!

as for the ending of your story...I think I'd be tempted tamper with it until I got it just so too. Write on dude!

Flood - Of course I'll let you know. You especially.

All - Thanks for the go-ahead. I've become known by my avatar, but I don't think it's me.

Eve - I should have been writing more this week but I've been blogging instead. I need to get busy!

Nat - Thing is, I never changed the avatar, so I'm feeling reluctant.

Toni - Philosophy is a very personal thing, and if yours works for you, well, you are published. Ayn Rand though hers was the only way, and she was bitter and unforgiving. If the world were filled with people only like her, it might work like a machine, but it would be heartless.

Moni - I appreciate all that. It's a better story so far, but I'll feel better when I at least have an ending.

I think I just hate someone trying to make someone else feel bad. :)

I think that's a great choice for an avatar. I have changed mine a lot but I'm sticking with this for awhile.

Is the first time we see your real face going to be on the inside jacket of a book? :)

I'm looking forward to the finished story!!

Okay, I'll take the other side. I think your old avatar is a bit more memorable than the tortured writer.

Sorry I've been so delinquent with my commentary, but, well, I told you how little sleep I've gotten.

As for the avatar, change is good, but not to that. Given the choice of the two, I like your current photo better.
